Phlebectomy
Phlebectomy is a minimally invasive outpatient procedure that uses tiny slit-like incisions to remove varicose veins near the surface of the skin. Phlebectomy can effectively remove large, bulging, or raised varicose veins with minimal scarring or post-treatment discomfort. The incisions are so small that no stitches are required. Phlebectomy requires very little down time, and most activities may be resumed on the day after the surgery.
Phlebectomy is highly effective at removing surface varicose veins, but not at treating the underlying cause. Due to this reason, phlebectomy is usually used as part of a complete treatment plan that may also include ClosureFastâ„¢ (radiofrequency ablation) or VenaSealâ„¢.
