WHAT IS CLOSUREFAST™ TARGETED ENDOVENOUS THERAPY?
The ClosureFast™ procedure is a minimally invasive treatment option for patients suffering from chronic venous insufficiency (CVI) and/or varicose veins. ClosureFast™ therapy employs the signature ClosureFast™ catheter to deliver radiofrequency (RF) energy to the diseased vein. This energy evenly heats the collagen in the vein walls, causing them to contract and close. Once the diseased vein has been sealed, the blood will re-route itself to other healthy veins.
IS THE CLOSUREFAST™ PROCEDURE COVERED BY MY HEALTH INSURANCE?
Because vein disease can lead to potentially serious health complications, many insurance companies offer partial or full coverage for the ClosureFast™ procedure. Before any appointments with us, we will check with your health insurance provider to find out your coverage details.
IS THE CLOSUREFAST™ PROCEDURE PAINFUL?
Unlike many other vein disease treatment options, the ClosureFast™ procedure causes minimal discomfort, and you will be given a local anesthetic to numb the treatment area, ensuring a nearly pain-free treatment.
DOES THE CLOSUREFAST™ PROCEDURE REQUIRE ANESTHESIA?
The ClosureFast™ procedure will be performed in-office at the Rose City Vein Center. Prior to treatment, patients will be given local anesthesia to ensure maximum comfort during the procedure.
HOW LONG WILL THE CLOSUREFAST™ PROCEDURE TAKE TO PERFORM?
The ClosureFast™ procedure is designed to quickly and efficiently treat the diseased vein(s), and can target a vein that is 45 cm in length in only 3-5 minutes, which allows for an overall treatment time of approximately 45-60 minutes. Exact treatment times may vary depending upon the extensiveness and severity of the patient’s vein disease.
IS THE CLOSUREFAST™ PROCEDURE APPROPRIATE FOR EVERYONE?
The ClosureFast™ procedure has been shown to be effective for both male and female patients across a wide range of ages. In order to determine if you are a good candidate for the ClosureFast™ procedure, Rose City Vein Center will perform a thorough medical evaluation and will conduct specific diagnostic tests, like ultrasound vein mapping, in order to create a customized treatment plan designed to expeditiously resolve your vascular problems.
HOW DOES THE CLOSUREFAST™ PROCEDURE DIFFER FROM ENDOVENOUS LASER TREATMENT?
Although endovenous laser ablation and the ClosureFast™ procedure are both minimally invasive vein disease treatment options, the ClosureFast™ procedure is associated with lower rates of pain, bruising, has a decreased risk of procedural complications and a lower recurrence rate when compared with laser therapy treatment.
HOW DOES THE CLOSUREFAST™ PROCEDURE DIFFER FROM VEIN STRIPPING?
Vein stripping is a more invasive and painful treatment option, and requires two incisions (in the groin and the calf), versus the singular, small incision necessitated by the ClosureFast™ procedure. During vein stripping, a tool is threaded through the diseased vein in order to pull the diseased vein out of the leg, whereas with the ClosureFast™ procedure, the vein is treated with radiofrequency energy, sealed shut, and left in place, which reduces the likelihood of pain, bruising and nerve damage.
HOW DOES THE CLOSUREFAST™ PROCEDURE DIFFER FROM THE VNUS CLOSURE PROCEDURE?
The ClosureFast™ procedure is simply a new name for the VNUS Closure procedure, and provides the same clinically proven results and successful patient recovery profile.
HOW QUICKLY AFTER MY CLOSUREFAST™ TREATMENT CAN I RETURN TO NORMAL ACTIVITIES?
One of the key advantages of the ClosureFast™ procedure is that it allows patients to resume normal activities more quickly than patients who have undergone surgical vein stripping or endovenous laser ablation. Following ClosureFast™ treatment, most patients are able to resume regular movement, with no interruption to their daily activities. Patients will be asked to avoid very strenuous activities like heavy lifting or prolonged periods of standing for 2-3 weeks, and to begin a regular walking regimen in order to facilitate proper healing.
WILL THERE BE ANY VISIBLE BRUISING, SCARRING, OR SWELLING AFTER THE CLOSUREFAST™ PROCEDURE?
Most patients report minimal (if any) swelling, bruising or scarring after their ClosureFast™ treatment.
WHEN WILL I NOTICE IMPROVEMENTS IN MY VEIN DISEASE SYMPTOMS?
In general, patients report a noticeable improvement in their vein disease symptoms within 1-2 weeks after the ClosureFast™ procedure.
