Venefit

VENEFIT™ TARGETED ENDOVENOUS THERAPY

Venefit™ Targeted Endovenous Therapy, formerly known as the VNUS Closure™ procedure, is a non-surgical, office-based treatment that was designed specifically to treat varicose veins and chronic venous insufficiency (CVI). The Venefit procedure uses radiofrequency (RF) energy to evenly and uniformly heat the collagen in the vein walls, causing them to contract, collapse and close, thereby ceasing the retrograde flow of blood. After the diseased vein has been sealed, the blood re-routes itself to healthier veins where it will continue to flow properly.

VENEFIT BENEFITS

Clinical studies have demonstrated that Venefit is an effective vein treatment producing long-term results with much less bruising and discomfort (if any), and a dramatically lower risk of complications and recurrence rate than other vein therapies (i.e. vein stripping and endovenous laser therapy). Vein stripping can be a very painful procedure with a lengthy recovery period, whereas treatment with Venefit doesn’t require hospitalization or general anesthesia, and there’s no interruption to the patient’s daily activities. Patients are comfortable throughout the procedure, as treatment is very well tolerated. Plus treatment can be completed in about an hour, making it an ideal therapy for most individuals.

Patients generally report an improvement in their symptoms within a half day to a day for CVI that is treated in its earlier stages. Discomfort, fatigue, restlessness, and other leg sensations will resolve almost immediately and aesthetic improvement will ensue in the weeks and or months to follow, depending upon the extent of treated reflux. Many patients experience improvements in the appearance of large varicose veins, as well as smaller, unsightly leg veins after a successful Venefit treatment. Those who suffer from more advanced CVI will note considerable relief with treatment that will continue over the course of therapy.

Most insurances will pay for Venefit therapy for those who are diagnosed with venous insufficiency and have coverage under their health plan.

VENEFIT PROCEDURE AND RECOVERY

During your initial consultation, our providers will review your medical history, conduct a brief physical examination and visually assess your legs to determine the need for medical intervention. If they suspect venous insufficiency, a simple ultrasound examination will allow them to offer a formal diagnosis and determine whether Venefit is the best vein treatment option for you. Candidates for treatment receive a customized treatment plan based upon the ultrasound results to ensure the success of your Venefit procedure and fulfill your medical and aesthetic vein treatment objectives.

Your Venefit treatment will be performed in the office and take about an hour. Ultrasound guidance is used throughout the procedure, which allows our providers to visualize your superficial venous system and direct a tiny catheter into the diseased vein to gently heat and thereby seal the refluxing vein segment(s). This stops any retrograde blood flow from passing through the area and re-routes blood flow into healthier veins. Over time, the treated veins will shrink and will naturally be absorbed by the body. Patients note quick relief from painful legs after Venefit and subsequent cosmetic improvement.

varicose veins, venous insufficiency disease,

Following your Venefit procedure, you may resume normal activities. You will be advised to avoid strenuous activities and prolonged periods of standing for the next 2-3 weeks. We will schedule a follow up ultrasound within 72 hours after your treatment and will continue to monitor your progress periodically over the coming months to ensure a successful treatment.
